Cob Houses are Not Made of Corncobs!

A cob house is one of the oldest kinds of houses in the world. They are not named cob houses because they are made of corn cobs. Nope. Corn is not used in the making of these houses. They are made of natural materials like sand, straw, clay and/or gravel. They are made by hand. Because these house are hand made, they can be formed into natural shapes, so that they are curvy and biomorphic. Biomorphic means it evokes shapes found in nature.

According to an article written by Anton Giuroiu about Cob Houses, they have been built for over 600 years all over the world. Cob houses are good for insulation (keeping warm) and they are relatively cheap to build.

And they often look like fairy houses!
